Riga Airport is located 10 km west of the city centre. It is situated close to Skulte, a small but historic village in Marupe outside of Riga's city limits. The principal route between the two by road is via the P133 and A10 for Kalnciema Iela. The journey takes roughly 24 minutes in typical traffic. The principal highway serving the airport is the A10 which provides a ring road around Riga with the A8 and A2 for travel across Latvia.

Riga Airport is both Latvia's largest and most important airport and also the largest among the Baltic states. It offers direct flights to some 76 destinations. The busiest routes from Riga include London, Tallinn, Frankfurt, Kyiv, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Oslo, Stockholm, Berlin, Antalya and Amsterdam. Riga Airport also offers seasonal flights to serve Europe's summer tourist period.

Riga Airport serves more than just Riga-based traffic. Its location just outside of Riga's limits makes car or van hire in Riga Airport useful for surrounding towns like Adazi, Bergi, Kekava, Jurmala and Salaspils. The Central Latvian city of Jelgava is also well served by the airport, thanks to the E77 highway. After picking up a car hire in Riga Airport, you can explore the charming Albert Street and central attractions like St Peter's Church or discover Kalnciema Kvartāls closer to the airport.
